(BIRDSEYE) - Deputies arrested two men near Birdseye on felony counts of intimidation and criminal recklessness Wednesday.
Police arrested 19-year-old Damian McBride and 39-year-old Josh McBride, both of 8042 South State Road 145, on felony warrants charging the men with two felony counts of intimidation, one felony count of criminal recklessness and two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct for their alleged actions in front of the church service at Anderson Valley Christian Church Sunday.
According to police, the McBrides allegedly fired weapons and caused explosions on their property next to the church.
When Dubois County Sheriff's deputies got there, they found a headless dog strapped to a cross next to the church. It was spotted as families were arriving for Sunday worship.
The dog's owner, Damian McBride, lives next door to the church and use to attend services every Sunday, but is now banned from the property.
Church members and the McBride's have been bickering back and forth over the last few months. It started when a church elder claimed one of the McBrides' dogs bite him, but the McBride's say it never happened.
The claim was thrown out in court, leaving bad blood between church officials and McBride.
McBride says he believes someone has been poisoning his pets. Two cats have died, and now two dogs.
The family says their dog's head was removed as part of the autopsy to find out if it was poisoned.
That's why the family decided to strap their beloved pet Bruno to the cross.
Many of the congregation has stopped coming to church because of the dispute. Over the last few months, attendance has dropped 50 percent.
