(SEYMOUR) - A 23-year-old woman was killed this morning after the motorcycle she was riding with her boyfriend crashed south of Seymour.

Destiny Howard of Seymour was pronounced dead at the scene in the 100 block of North State Road 11 by Jackson County Coroner Roger Wheeler.

The accident happened near County Road 50N at about 10:20 a.m. The wreck occurred in an area known as The Hub.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff's Department report, Howard was riding on a 2015 Honda sports bike being driven north by 23-year-old Justin Smith of Seymour when the motorcycle left the east side of the road, rolled into a fence and down a ravine.

Police say speed appeared to be a factor.

Both were wearing helmets during the incident.
