(BEDFORD) - An Oolitic man was arrested after he led Bedford Police on a short pursuit Saturday.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, an officer attempted to stop 44-year-old Timothy Lagle after the officer noticed Lagle's vehicle had a broken windshield.

The officer attempted to pull Lagle over on 13th Street, east of L Street.

"That is when Mr. Lagle accelerated and fled," Chief Parsley added.

Lagle continued to travel north on J Street, going the wrong way on a one-way street and was headed toward GM Drive. He continued to North Jackson Road and ended up going south on Peerless Road.

"That is where he pulled into a vacant lot on Peerless Road and ran from the vehicle into a field," Chief Parsley added. "The officer gave chase."

The officer caught up with Lagle and that is when Lagle turned to fight with the officers.

"The officer warned Mr. Lagle, he refused to cooperate, so the officer deployed his Taser," Chief Parsley added. "The officer then attempted to handcuff Mr. Lagle who continued to fight and once again the officer had to use his Taser again to control the situation."

An IU Health Hospital ambulance was called to the scene to medically clear Lagle. He was then taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Bedford police searched the vehicle and found drugs, syringes, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.

Lagle was arrested on two counts of resisting law enforcement, dealing in meth, possession of less than 5 grams of meth, possession of paraphernalia, he was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, disregarding a stop sign and driving while his driver's license was suspended license. He posted a cash bond of $2,005 and was released from jail Sunday.
