Police Release Name Of Cummins Shooting Suspect And Victim

(SEYMOUR) - Seymour police have released the name of the manager who was shot and killed Thursday morning at Cummins Seymour Technical Center.

49-year-old Ward R. Edwards of Columbus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say 37-year-old Qing Chen shot Edwards with a 9mm Glock handgun and then turn the gun on himself. The gun was recovered at the scene.

Police say Edwards was Chen's direct supervisor.

Search warrants have been served on both the victim's and suspect's vehicles. Police also searched Chen's Seymour apartment.

The shooting happened Cummins Seymour Engine Plant at 800 E. Third St. in Seymour around 8:40 Thursday morning.

According to an Indiana State police report, the shooting took place on the second floor of the building in a meeting room on the southwest corner.
