(SPENCER) - Police have launched a search for a toddler reported missing from her father's home in Spencer.

Her mother, Jessica Mae Stewart, posted an emotional plea on Facebook saying she woke up to "police pounding on my door" with the news of her daughter's disappearance.

Police have been searching for 18-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman for most of the day.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil will hold a press conference after 6:30 p.m. at the Spencer Police Department

"Again, I will continue to work to provide you information regarding this case in a timely manner," Durnil added.

Indiana State Police and the Owen County Sheriff's Department and Spencer Police are conducting the search.

Anyone with information about Shaylyn's whereabouts is asked to contact Spencer police at (812) 829-3932.
