North Lawrence Community Schools Accepting Bids For Architectural Projects

Last updated on Wednesday, March 16, 2016

(BEDFORD) - The North Lawrence Community School system is accepting bids on four large architectural projects and other improvements.

The bids will be accepted through 2 p.m. on March 21.

Steve Ritter, NLCS maintenance director, told the Times Mail those projects are:

In addition, bids are being received for boiler replacement and related upgrades at Parkview Primary, Shawswick and Stalker, gymnasium air conditioning at Bedford Middle School, water heaters and softeners at various buildings, and control upgrades at Dollens Elementary/Oolitic Middle School.

Contractors can begin projects the Tuesday after Memorial Day, with most of the projects needing completed by August 1.

According to NLCS Superintendent Gary Conner the community will not experience any form of increase in taxes. The debt for NLCS was scheduled to decrease by approximately $750,000 at the end of 2015. Because of this decrease, school personnel were able to obtain a $2 million lease financing bond to provide critical maintenance to facilities within NLCS. Based upon our debt service structure, we will be able to retire the $2 million finance lease bond issue in three years.

Additional projects are planned, but are not part of this bidding process, include resurfacing the running track at Bedford North Lawrence High School, work on a student drop-off area at Parkview Primary School and adding carpeting to rooms within the school system.
