(BEDFORD) - Morgan Lambrecht of Bedford, was named the 2016 Indiana Guernsey Queen during the Indiana Guernsey Breeders Association's annual meeting in Kokomo.

During the competition on March 5, Lambrecht gave a presentation titled "The Ten Most Important Lessons I've Learned from Raising Guernsey Cattle".

She also completed an interview process. Each contestant was judged on poise, personal appearance, general intelligence, speaking ability, leadership and knowledge of and experiences with Guernsey cattle.

Lambrecht is the daughter of Jeff and Missy Lambrecht and the granddaughter of the late Jerry Lambrecht, a long time Guernsey breeder.

Morgan began raising Guernsey cattle at the age of 2 after she received a heifer for her birthday, and has been showing cattle since the age of 5.

As the Indiana Guernsey Queen, Lambrecht will participate in all state sponsored activities over the next year including activities at the Indiana State Fair. She will also represent Indiana in the National Guernsey Queen Contest in Bloomington, Minnesota in June, and will represent the Guernsey breed during the Indiana Dairy Princess contest in July.

Lambrecht is a senior at Bedford North Lawrence High School. In the Fall, she will attend Purdue University to study agribusiness and will minor in political science. Morgan will study as part of the Purdue University Honors College and was recently named a merit scholar in the Purdue University School of Agriculture. After completing her undergraduate studies, Morgan hopes to attend law school and become a lawyer specializing in agriculture.
