Man Detained After Saying He Had Explosives At Crane Gate

(CRANE) - A man was detained after claiming to have explosives at Naval Support Activity Crane’s Bloomington gate.

According to Crane Public Information officer Jeff Nagan, shortly after noon, an individual approached the Bloomington gate and claimed to have explosive materials in his vehicle.

The individual was not an employee of the installation.

The man was immediately detained by Crane law enforcement officers and the explosive ordnance disposal technicians and other emergency personnel responded.

They soon deemed the scene to be safe.

The man was arrested and then transported to a hospital.

Normal operations resumed around 2:50 p.m. with the exception of the Bloomington gate.
