Loogootee Officials Vote To Establish $6 Per Month Stormwater Fee

Last updated on Thursday, March 17, 2016

(LOOGOOTEE) - The Loogootee City Council approved establishing a $6 per month stormwater fee.

Councilman Carroll Rayhill made the motion to establish the fee, which will be applied across the board to all residences and businesses in the city.

Despite the council's action, the fee will not become official for awhile. A public hearing on the fee must be advertised in the local newspaper first, and then scheduled as part of the April 11 council meeting. The council will need to pass both an ordinance and a resolution for the stormwater fee to become official.

All funds raised by the fee must be earmarked for the city's stormwater account to build up funds to be used as a match for a federal grant to improve the city's stormwater system.
