(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University student was arrested this morning after police found a suspicious package outside of the Student Services office on Union Street Thursday night.

IU Police arrested Daven Patton on a Level 5 felony charge of terroristic mischief.

According to Capt. Andy Stephenson, police began their investigation at 8:20 p.m. after receiving a call from a custodian who was on break reporting that the US Postal Service package was outside of the building on the sidewalk on the north side of the building.

The building was closed and officers determined that no one was inside.

"The box was sealed and its contents were unknown. Written on the top of the box was the phrase, 'Call the Bomb Squad'," Capt. Andy Stephenson Stephenson wrote in the press release.

Officers set up a 100 yard perimeter around the building and notified members of the Indiana State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team. More than a dozen IUPD officers and ISP officials were on the scene.

"Due to the time of day and the box was located in an isolated area of the campus and did not pose an immediate threat to the safety of students or employees," he added.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. officers determined using an x-ray that the box did not contain an explosive device, but books and a note.

The contents of the box and an attached label identified a possible suspect, and a follow-up investigation confirmed the suspect's identity." Capt. Stephenson wrote. "A search warrant was obtained and served on the suspect's residence, where he was taken into custody at approximately 1:40 a.m. Evidence linking the suspect to the crime was recovered at the residence."
