Fire Damaged Dubois Modular Home Sunday Afternoon

Last updated on Tuesday, March 1, 2016

(DUBOIS) - A fire early Sunday afternoon caused extensive damage to a modular Sunday afternoon in Dubois County.

Dubois Volunteer Fire Department firefighters were called fire at 4660 Zehr Road just after Noon.

When firefighters arrived there was smoke bellowing out of the home and flames were shooting through the roof over the dining room area.

The home is owned by Skeeterville LLC and was being rented by Jennifer Caffrey and Anthony Beckham. Both were home when the fire started. Caffrey's two sons were not home at the time of the blaze.

The couple had just moved to the home six days before the fire. They were working in the yard when Beckham noticed smoke coming from the rear of the house. They ran into the home to grab a cellphone and called 911.

Firefighters believe the fire started in the ceiling, but the cause remains under investigation.
