(ORLEANS) - The April 1st deadline is fast approaching for entries to be accepted for upcoming the 48th annual Orleans Dogwood Festival Queen Contest and Junior Miss competition.
The Queen Contest sponsored by the Orleans Chamber of Commerce has traditionally served as the official opening ceremony for the town's trademark festival and this year the tradition continues. The contest will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Orleans Elementary School.
Jr. Miss Contestants must be in grades 7-8 and Queen Candidates must be in grades 9-12. Candidates must have a sponsor, as well as five $20 sponsors.
For a complete listing of rules and entry information, information may be picked up at Orleans Town Hall or Orleans High School principal's office. The festival website, www.orleansdogwoodfestival.com, will also have entry forms and rule sheets.
