Bloomington Man, Girlfriend Arrested After Throwing Molotov Cocktail At Ex-Girlfriend's Home

(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man and his new girlfriend were arrested after police say he throw a molotov cocktail at his ex-girlfriend’s home and putting sugar into her gas tank.

Police arrested 21-year-old Andrei Fumurescu on charges of arson, criminal mischief and resisting law arrest.

Police say Fumurescu hatched this plan with his new 16-year-old girlfriend.

She is facing charges of arson and is being held at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, officers and firefighters were called to the 1000 block of East Miller Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

A woman police police she heard something hit the back of her house and then noticed flames and called 911.

The blaze was contained to the back porch and was extinguished quickly.

The fire melted the siding and the glass was broken a door.

The woman told police she thought her ex-boyfriend, Fumurescu, and his new girlfriend were responsible for the fire and had also pouring sugar into the gas tank of her Mazda.

Police found Fumurescu and his new girlfriend driving in the area of South Rogers Street and West Country Club Drive around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The girl told police it was her idea to fill a whiskey bottle with gasoline and wrap the bottle in cloth and she had Fumurescu throw it at the house while she waited in the car.
