Last updated on Thursday, March 31, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly threw a chair at his caregiver.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers arrested 42-year-old John Stone of Bedford on a charge of battery causing injury.

Police were called to an apartment in the 1620 block of L Street at 5 p.m. after a woman had fled the apartment.

According to Chief Parsley, Stone suffers from a medical condition in which he must have 24-hour care. The woman was Stone's caregiver.

The woman told police Stone has angry issues and was in his bedroom when he began kicking his door. He then entered the hallway and started kicking that door.

"He then went into the living room where the woman was sitting on the couch and threw a chair at her," Parsley added. "She then fled the apartment and called 911."

Police arrived to find the woman outside of the apartment. Stone then allegedly exited the apartment when police arrived.

"He was asked to take a seat on the ground while officers spoke to the woman," Chief Parsley added. "The woman complained of chest and arm pain and signed a battery affidavit."

Stone was then arrested.
