Be More Awards Will Recognize Committed Volunteers

(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network and its partners invite Bloomington and Monroe County residents to the Be More Awards, a community­wide celebration of volunteerism.

This 33 program, which is a Bicentennial Legacy Project, will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at the Buskirk ­Chumley Theater, 114 E. Kirkwood Ave.

This event is free and open to the public.

Thirty-­seven individual volunteers and twenty­four volunteer groups have been nominated for awards in a variety of categories. Each award will be presented by a different community leader, including Mayor John Hamilton; Tina Peterson, Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County; and Sarah Smith­Robbins, Director of Emerging Technologies for Kelley Executive Partners.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the Be More Awards", said John Hamilton, Mayor of Bloomington. "I hope people will come out and join us in recognizing the dedicated people behind these meaningful contributions to Bloomington. I'm looking forward to being in the same room with so many people working to make Bloomington the best it can be."

The event will announce the award recipients and share stories and inspirational photos of these incredible people and their extraordinary efforts to make the Bloomington community the best it can be.

The Be More Awards are produced by the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network. The Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County contributes $500 to each of the ten organizations for which the recipients volunteer. Co­sponsors include the IU Credit Union, United Way of Monroe County, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Department, and WTIU Public Television.
