Woman Suffers Serious Injuries During Domestic Fight, Police Looking For Suspect

Last updated on Monday, February 22, 2016

(BEDFORD) - Police are looking for John Bartlett after he allegedly injured a woman during a domestic fight at a home in the 200 block of Old U.S. 50 Sunday morning.

According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to the home at 10:48 a.m.

"The woman was kicked in the head by the suspect who was wearing steel-toed boots," Shoults says.

Bartlett fled the scene before officers arrived.

The woman suffered a 6 to 7 inch laceration around her left eye in addition to other injuries. She was flown by Air Evac to Methodist Hospital.

"When officers last checked on her condition, she was reported to be 'all right' according to nursing staff," Shoults added. "We don't have any information on what started the incident. Officers collected evidence and statements at the scene. A 22-month-old child of the victim was in the home at the time the battery took place. DCS (Department of Child Services) was called and arrangements made to get the baby to a safe place."

One Lawrence County officer spotted Bartlett not long after the incident traveling northbound on Sowder Lane from Little Salt Creek Run. With the officer in pursuit, Bartlett turned left on Elmer Jack Road where the officer lost sight of Bartlett and terminated the pursuit.

Anyone with information on Bartlett is asked to call the Lawrence County Police Department.
