Teen Arrested In Robbery Of McDonald's, Aver's Gourmet Pizza

(BLOOMINGTON) - A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with recent robberies at a McDonald’s restaurant on the city’s south side and Aver’s Gourmet Pizza.

The teen is facing two counts of armed robbery.

According to Bloomington police detectives, on Thursday, police conducted surveillance in the 1000 block of West Country Club Drive looking for the male teen.

Police saw the teen get into a blue van. Officers then stopped the van and arrested the teen, who was taken to a juvenile detention center.

On Wednesday, police responded to two robbery calls. The first was at a McDonald's restaurant on South Walnut. According to police, the teen walked into the restaurant at around 6 a.m. and handed employees a note demanding money, took the cash and then fled on foot.

The second robbery was reported at 11:22 p.m. at Aver's Pizza on Winslow Road.

Police say the teen pulled a knife from his pants pocket and demanded money. He grabbed cash from the register and fled.

Police are still investigating a third robbery that happened at 4:45 p.m. at Regions Bank on Liberty Drive. The man entered the bank, demanded money and fled. That robbery is still under investigation. Anyone one with information is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department.
