(MONTGOMERY) - Alcohol is believed to be a factor in an accident early Saturday morning that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man from Montgomery, according to a Daviess County Sheriff's Office release.

The accident, north of Montgomery, claimed the life of 19-year-old Madison Wagler. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville where he later died from his injuries.

Another man, 21-year-old Jerald Swartzentruber of Washington, is in critical condition at an Evansville hospital.

According to Sheriff Jerry Harbstreit, Swartzentruber was driving the 2008 Ford pickup on County Road 650 East and was approaching County Road 400 North when he attempted to pass another vehicle. The driver lost control, went off the west side of the road and continued into a field, overturning and ejecting all five people in the pickup.

One passenger, 19-year-old Destiny Wagler, suffered a severe leg injury.

Also injured were 18-year-old Gage Miller and 20-year-old Austin Swartzentruber, both of Montgomery.

Toxicology results are still pending, and the accident remains under investigation by the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.
