Officials Say It Could Take Weeks To Identify Body Found In Mitchell

(MITCHELL) - Indiana State Police Sgt Curt Durnil says it could take weeks of forensic testing to identify the body discovered at a Mitchell home.

Sgt Durnil has confirmed that ISP and the Mitchell Police Department are in the middle of a death Investigation at 3413 U.S. 50 West in Mitchell.

"Both Lincoln and Jasmine Pickett were arrested as a result of this ongoing investigation," Durnil says. "At this time there is no positive identification of the victim.

34-year-old Lincoln Pickett is charged with abuse of a corpse, failure to report a dead body, false informing and obstruction of justice.

30-year-old Jasmine Pickett was charged with failure to report a dead body, false informing, and obstruction of justice.

Jasmine Pickett posted bond Sunday night. Lincoln Pitckett remains in jail this morning with bond set at $7,500 surety, or $755 cash.

The probable cause for the search warrant at the home are sealed and is not available to the public.

The investigation may be linked to he case may be linked to the disappearance of 29-year-old Kamie Ratcliff, who according to Mitchell Police was reported missing on January 24.

"The last contact Ratcliff had with her family was a phone conversation on Thursday, January 21.," he added. "No one has heard from her since."

However family members say the Pickett family was the some of the last people to see Kami before she disappeared.
