Monroe County Judge Seals Information In Search Warrants In Spierer Case

Last updated on Tuesday, February 2, 2016

(BLOOMINGTON) - A judge says information regarding search warrants connected to the 2011 disappearance of an Indiana University student need to remain sealed so the investigation won’t be compromised.

Monroe Circuit Judge Mary Ellen Diekhoff tells The Bloomington Herald-Times the information will be unsealed if evidence warrants filing a criminal charge in the disappearance of Lauren Spierer. The 20-year-old Greenburgh, New York, woman vanished in June 2011, after a night out with friends in Bloomington.

Federal authorities and Bloomington police last week conducted investigative work in Morgan County connected to her disappearance. There have been numerous searches around Bloomington and the surrounding wooded countryside that's dotted with lakes and old limestone quarries filled with water about 40 miles south of Indianapolis.
