Last updated on Monday, February 8, 2016

(MARTINSVILLE) - A Martinsville man was killed after the trailer he was working on fell on top of him Thursday afternoon.

According to Monroe County police, 37-year-old Steven Pauley died from his injuries.

Emergency crews were called to Hanna Xcavating at 1655 East Whisnand Road after a report of a man trapped under a trailer.

Police say Pauley was repairing an air valve on one of the triple-axle lowboy trailers used to haul excavation equipment when the trailer came down on top of him.

An IU Bloomington Hospital ambulance and Bloomington Township fire engine, which is only a half-mile from the property, were on the scene within minutes.

Pauley died before help arrived.

The Monroe County Coroner's office has ruled the death an accident.
