Macy Nikirk To Reign As 500 Festival Princess

(BEDFORD) - Macy Nikirk of Bedford was selected Wednesday as a 500 Festival princess.

According to a news release from the 500 Festival, Nikirk is a Bedford Lawrence North High School graduate who is currently a sophomore at IUPUI majoring in marketing and supply chain management.

As a princess, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Nikirk is one of 33 women chosen as 2016 500 Festival princesses. The princesses serve as ambassadors to the 500 Festival, volunteering at festival events and attending functions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including the pre-race ceremonies and Victory Circle celebration for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.

This year's 500 Festival princesses represent 13 Indiana colleges and universities and 21 cities and towns across the state.

With a cumulative GPA of 3.5, the princesses were selected from hundreds of applicants based upon their communication skills, commitment to service, leadership, scholarship, and professionalism.
