Last updated on Monday, February 1, 2016

(BEDFORD) - A Linton man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was allegedly banging on car windows begging for money.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called at 12:48 p.m. about a suspicious male who was in the JayC Foods Plus lot banging on car windows and asking drivers for money.

"One woman reported the man banged on her window and was demanding money," Parsley added. "The woman would not roll down her window and refused to give the man money. That is when he became abusive and started yelling at the woman and flipped her off."

Police searched the parking lot for the man, but were unable to find him.

A short time later, officer were flagged down by a motorist reporting the man was in the parking lot of IU Health Hospital.

Police found 46-year-old Steven Walters in the parking lot.

Police say Walters was intoxicated and uncooperative.

He was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
