(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge William Sleva ruled this morning that Charles Strunk will be face a jury on two other cases.
One jury already convicted Strunk, of Heltonvillle, on a charge of sexual misconduct of a minor. At his sentencing Judge Sleva ordered Strunk to serve 44 years at the Indiana Department of Correction. He is currently an inmate at the Wabash Valley prison. His projected release date is July 9, 2036.
This morning Judge Sleva denied Strunk's attorney David Smith's request to dismiss two cases that Smith says should have been joined with the first case that was tried in 2014.
In the first case, which Strunk is appealing, he was convicted of both a Class A and Class B Felony of sexual misconduct with a minor. Judge Sleva at the time of that case added an aggravating circumstance because Strunk violated his position of trust with the victim because he was a friend of the victim's family.
The two pending cases involve different victims. The two ongoing trials are scheduled to start June 3.
