(BLOOMINGTON) - NAMI-GBA is currently accepting registration for Family-to-Family, the signature educational program of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) intended for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses.

The classes will be held for 12 Tuesdays, March 1st-May 24th (no class will be held the week of spring break) at the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 2120 North Fee Lane in Bloomington from 7-9:30 pm.

"Family members can become confused and overwhelmed when a loved one is mentally ill," said Jill Bolte Taylor, member of the local affiliate. "This program helps families to better understand what is going on with their loved one's brain, what they can do to support their family member, how to navigate local resources, as well as what they can do to take care of themselves," said Taylor.

The course balances basic psycho-education and skill training with emotional support, self-care and empowerment. Two trained teachers, Laura Jesseph and Joanne Shaver will teach the class. The course and all materials are offered free of charge; however class size is limited and pre-registration is required no later than Thursday, February 25th.

For more information or to pre-register for the class, please contact Laura Jesseph by phone (812.333.0341) or email ( or Joanne Shaver by phone (812.837.9642) or email (
