Last updated on Monday, January 18, 2016

(BLOOMFIELD) - A woman is in jail after she called police reporting she attempted to kill her boyfriend after he pulled a gun on her.

Police arrested 20-year-old Brittany Prince of Bloomington early Friday morning on charges of battery, possession of meth, an alcoholic beverage and drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Bloomfield police and deputies from the Greene County Sheriff's Department were called to a home on Jefferson Street in Bloomfield just after 4 a.m. after a report of a domestic dispute with a gun.

When police arrived, a male told them Prince, his ex-girlfriend, who was still living with him and his current girlfriend got into an altercation.

When asked about the gun the male said it was in the cushion of the couch.

According to the man the fight began after Prince woke to find the male and his new girlfriend on the couch.

When Prince saw the two together, she got angry, picked up a bottle of vodka, poured it on the two of them and then lit a piece of her cigarette box on fire. At this point, she told officers, the male drew a pistol, pointed it at her and she let the flame extinguish.

She then called 911 to report the incident.

Prince later told officers she had not planned to actually set the couple on fire, but wanted to instead scare the male.

Police received permission to search Prince's purse and found the bottle of vodka she had hidden. The probable cause says the officer also located a glass smoking device, a straw with white residue and a pen cap with white residue. The substance tested positive for meth.
