Two Arrested After Stealing More Than $6,600 From Jasper Store

Last updated on Monday, January 4, 2016

(JASPER) - Two women were arrested Wednesday, including one from French Lick, after stealing more than $6,600 in merchandise from Jasper Store.

Two women, 21-year-old Taylor Beck of Jasper and 29-year-old Melissa McTier of French Lick, were booked into the Dubois County Security Center on felony theft charges.

Police say the pair sole $6,619.31 worth of merchandise including children's clothing, perfume, shoes, sportswear and undergarments since December 12.

Through video surveillance, the store determined the two had been making fraudulent transactions for themselves, friends and family.

According to police, the two made the fraudulent transactions by checking each other out at cash registers, scanning the items and then voiding the items from the transactions.

In addition to the $6,619.31 in fraudulent purchases, police say the pair also took items without ever scanning them.
