Seymour Woman Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty

Last updated on Thursday, January 14, 2016

(SEYMOUR) - A Seymour woman plead guilty to one count of animal cruelty and will serve a year on home detention.

34-year-old Mandy Becraft of Seymour was sentenced in Jackson Superior Court I on Thursday after Judge Bruce Markel III accepted a plea agreement. In that agreement two other counts of animal cruelty were dismissed.

Judge Markel ordered Becraft to pay a $200 fine and court costs and $300 in restitution to the Humane Society of Jackson County.

Becraft was arrested after a man called Seymour Police on August 12 about three malnourished dogs in the 600 block of Mill Street. Police arrested Becraft and took possession of the dogs. The dogs were then transported to the Humane Society of Jackson County.
