Last updated on Thursday, January 21, 2016

(MEDORA) - Jackson County police are investigating a school bus wreck on U.S. 50 near the Medora Junction.

One student was hospitalized Thursday after the school bus he was riding in was involved in a wreck on U.S. 50 at Curry Road in the far western part of the county.

Jackson County Officer Rob Henley said the child was the only one of 21 children riding on the Brownstown Central bus to complain of pain.

The child hit his head on the glass, but because officer could not get ahold of the child's mother he was sent to the hospital.

Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel were at the scene checking students and the drivers involved.

The wreck, reported at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, forced police to close U.S. 50 so another bus could be brought in so the students could continue on their way to home.

Wreckers also were called to haul away the bus and the other vehicle involved in the wreck.
