Final Plans Approved For Limestone Trail

Last updated on Friday, January 22, 2016

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Board of Works approved the final design for the Limestone Trail.

The trail will loop around the downtown area and then head north along the west side of L Street and Lincoln Avenue and connect with the Milwaukee Trail on U Street.

Lochmueller Group designed the trail to save as many of the mature trees in the area by narrowing the sidewalks and limestone slabs will be used for sidewalks in the historical designation district.

The Times Mail reports that requests for construction easements have been sent to nine residents whose properties will be affected during the project.

The plan will now be sent to the Indiana Department of Transportation for approval. Bids could be opened in April with construction starting in late spring with construction extending into 2017.
