Corporal Eric Doane Honored For Dedication To Community

(SHOALS) - Indiana Conservation Officers are proud to announce that Corporal Eric Doane was recognized for his unwavering and continuing dedication to the citizens of Martin County by the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Corporal Doane was presented the award by Sheriff Travis Roush at the Martin County Safe Community Campaign on Saturday.

This event was spearheaded by Corporal Doane and designed for law enforcement to build positive relationships in their community and raise food and monetary donations for three food banks in Martin County. Around $3,000 dollars and 9,000 food items were raised at the event.

The event included the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Indiana Excise Police, Indiana State Police, Loogootee Police Department, Shoals Town Marshall and Martin County Community Corrections.

Corporal Doane has also been a 4-H shooting sports instructor for both archery and muzzle-loading. He teaches a wilderness survival class at Vincennes University, is a NASP instructor, and is a member of Dover Hill Christian Union Church.

Corporal Doane grew up in Martin County in the small town of Dover Hill near Shoals, Indiana. He attended Shoals High School and graduated in 1988. After High School Corporal Doane attended Vincennes University for Conservation Law and was hired by the DNR Law Enforcement Division in 1992.

Corporal Doane has a long history of exceptional service to his profession and his community. He has won the District Seven Officer of the Year award three times and also won the Pitzer award in 2007, which is given to the top overall Conservation Officer in the state of Indiana.

The Martin County Safe Community Campaign is expected to be an annual event.
