(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed a woman Friday night.

According to Bloomington Police, officers were called to the 1700 block of North Kinser Pike just before 7 p.m. after a report at the Marathon gas station.

When police arrived they found two men restraining 32-year-old Dustin Bright of Bloomington. He was arrested at the scene.

According to police, the woman had escaped thanks to the two men. She fled to a nearby vehicle while the men restrained Bright and police could arrive.

Police say the woman and Bright had been arguing about drugs when Bright began stabbing her with the knife. She was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for the treatment of one knife wound to her head and two knife wounds to her upper torso.

Police recovered a knife at the scene and Bright was arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness and battery and a warrant for a probation violation.
