(BLOOMINGTON) - The attorney for a man accused of attacking a Muslim woman outside of a Bloomington cafe has filed a motion for a psychological examination.

Triceten Bickford appeared in Monroe County Court Monday.

19-year-old Bickford is accused of attacking the woman on October 17 shouting racial slurs, grabbed her neck and shoved her face into a table at Sofra Cafe.

The woman's 9-year-old daughter watched as her husband and others pulled Bickford off the woman.

When police arrived, Bickford was pinned to the ground. He was arrested. Once in the police car he attempted to kick out a window and bit an officer who was trying to restrain him in the calf.

Bickford, a sophomore at IU, had a blood alcohol content of 0.195 percent at the time of his arrest.

He has been expelled from IU for his behavior.

Bickford, who is currently out on bail, is facing seven charges, including two counts of battery by bodily waste, battery resulting in bodily injury, intimidation, strangulation and battery against a public safety officer.

In October 2015, his attorney Katharine Liell filed a motion for a change of venue because of pre-trial publicity. Judge Teresa Harper granted their motion in November.

Liell and the prosecutors have until May 1 to decide the county from which to choose jurors.

Bickford's next pre-trial conference is scheduled for 3 p.m.
March 24.
