(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Park Board once again voted to allow the Lawrence County Aquatics to use the John Lowery Municipal Pool for June 24-26 to stage the annual Quarry Classic.
And the board authorized and waived the fees for the Craig Bowden Celebrity Golf Tournament, which benefits the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County. The event slated for June 18, at Otis Park Golf Course, features a public scramble in the morning and a celebrity showcase in the afternoon.
In other business:
The Community Concourse at 1414 H St., recently acquired by the city, has been refurbished and is now available for rental. The fee is $75 and requires a deposit of $75.
New playground equipment has been erected at Brookside Park, just west of Otis Park along Leatherwood Creek. New mulch will be placed when the weather breaks.
Recreation Director Gary Dorsett and staff are preparing for the annual Father/Daughter Dance slated for Feb. 5 at First Baptist Church. The cost is $20 per couple or $25 for a father accompanying more than one daughter. Natalie Smith of Kore Photography will be on site to shoot pictures. Magic Morning Bakery will provide cupcakes, and Clair Roub will serve as disc jockey.
