Last updated on Monday, December 14, 2015

(BEDFORD) - Two men were arrested after a fight at Park Place Apartments.

Bedford Police Department officers were called to the apartment complex at just before 9 p.m. Thursday.

According to Chief Dennis Parsley, while officers were enroute they were told that seven or eight people were involved in the fight.

As officers were pulling into the parking lot they saw a vehicle leaving the scene. Police learned the people in the vehicle had been involved in the fight so an officer pulled over the vehicle.

According to Parsley, 22-year-old Daniel Purcell was driving and failed a portable breath test. He was arrested on for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior offense within five years.

His passenger, 20-year-old Devin Johnson was arrested after police discovered he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear.

As police were arresting the men, they were informed that a woman had been injured during the fight.

The woman told police that she and Johnson had been arguing at the apartments and Johnson had allegedly slammed her on the ground hurting her ankle and had punched her in the chest.

She was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

She then filed a battery affidavit against Johnson.

Johnson was then charged with battery resulting in bodily injury.
