(HARDINSBURG) - Two Paoli girls suffered serious injures after a crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of State Road 56 West and Hardinsburg-Livonia Road.

According to a Washington County Police report, 15-year-old Dora Woodsmall of Paoli was driving a 1996 Subaru eastbound.

Her father, David Woodsmall, who was a front seat passenger, told police his daughter ran off the wet roadway, then overcorrected. The car hydroplaned and slammed into a utility pole, wrapping around it.

Police say an Orange County REMC transformer fell on the car. First responders had to wait for the electric company to arrive before they could remove the girls from the vehicle.

Dora Woodsmall suffered head injuries. Her 9-year-old sister, Liliann, was in the back seat and was not wearing a seat belt. She suffered a serious leg injury after her leg was jammed between the driver's seat and console.

Three different air ambulances were called, but none could fly due to adverse weather conditions. The girls were transported by ambulance to Kosair Children's Hospital.

David Woodsmall was not injured during the incident.

The accident remains under investigation.
