Last updated on Friday, December 4, 2015

(BLOOMINGTON) - Skip Daley, of Monroe County, is the latest to announce his candidacy for State Representative District 62.

The seat is being vacated as a result of Representative Matt Ubelhor's resignation. Ubelhor announced he will vacate his seat by December 1.

The term ends November of 2016.

District 62 encompasses most of Greene County (except for Wright Township), Daviess, Martin and Monroe counties.

Daley will face Greene County Commissioner Nathan Abrams, Public Relations, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Greene County General Hospital Amy Lore, former Monroe County Councilman and Monroe County Recorder Jeff Ellington and R.Ph. (registered pharmacist) Julia Bartlow in the Republican caucus.

The vacated seat will be filled in accordance to state laws through a Republican Party caucus, which will be held on Monday, Dec. 21 in Bloomfield.

According to a press release, Daley is a business development and marketing specialist who has spent years assisting companies and organizations in both the private and non-profit sectors.

Prior to consulting for business leaders, Daley said he spent several years working in national education reform, implementing district-wide collaboration techniques and professional learning communities which demonstrated significant gains in student achievement.

Daley was also a candidate for Monroe County Council at-large in 2012.
