(INDIANAPOLIS) - The man found guilty of the 2013 slaying of four people in Waynesville is appealing his murder convictions to the Indiana Supreme Court.
Columbus attorney Jane Ann Noblitt, who was appointed to handle the appeals process for 58-year-old Samuel Earl Sallee, will have a maximum of 45 minutes to make oral arguments on his behalf.
Noblitt intends to argue that evidence presented during the February trial of Sallee was not sufficient to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Police says Sallee became a person of interest shortly after the May 11 slayings of 53-year-old Katheryn Burton; her 39-year-old boyfriend, Thomas Smith; and two friends, Aaron Cross and Shawn Burton, both 41-year-old Columbus residents.
Police says Sallee became a person of interest early in the investigation, as investigators combed through the evidence. Within 48 hours of the murders Sallee was arrested on unrelated charge of felony battery and a federal firearms charge.
Police say the murders were drug related.
