Last updated on Monday, December 28, 2015

(SEYMOUR) - A Scott County man was arrested on numerous charges Wednesday night after fleeing from officers in a vehicle and then crashing on the west side of Seymour.

According to an Indiana State Police report, Trooper Jared Black and Probationary Trooper Tia Deaton attempted to stop a black Buick Lesabre on U.S. 50 near Walnut Street in Seymour around 8:40 p.m. after they witnessed a traffic violation.

The driver, 32-year-old Otha T. Bryant of Austin, refused to pull over and fled south on Walnut Street before turning west on County Road 200 North. Bryant then turned back north on County Road 600 East and headed back towards U.S. 50. As Bryant's vehicle approached the intersection of County Road 600 East, Bryant lost control of the vehicle and crashed onto the railroad tracks at Hangman's Crossing.

After crashing, Bryant attempted to flee the vehicle on foot. He was captured not far from the crash scene and was arrested.

Inside Bryant's vehicle police found more than 10 grams of meth and other items associated with the dealing of meth.

Bryant, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was checked out by Jackson County EMS before being taken to the Jackson County Jail on charges of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, resisting law enforcement on foot, dealing meth, possession of meth, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and driving with a suspended driver's license.

Troopers Black and Deaton were assisted by numerous other troopers as well as officers from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Seymour Police Department.
