Orleans Christmas On The Square Saturday

(ORLEANS) - The annual “Orleans Christmas on the Square” event is set for Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. downtown.

This family fun holiday event is sponsored by Orleans Chamber of Commerce. The event will also serve as the official closing out the town's yearlong 200th birthday celebration.

An Old Fashioned Soup Supper will take place from 4-6 p.m.at Orleans United Methodist Church (basement area), located on the southwest corner of the square. Kirby Stailey will also be performing both traditional and new Christmas music. The church will be hosting a special free Christmas Concert that evening at 7 p.m.

The Children's Christmas Funtime Express returns and will provide free train rides around the decorated historic Congress Square.

There will be a live nativity with animals telling the traditional Christmas Story, sponsored by the Orleans Ministerial Association.

Free horse and carriage rides will leave from the Chamber Welcome Center on north side of square, weather permitting.

Santa Claus arrives via the town's antique 1926 fire truck around 5:15 p.m. at the picturesque bandstand and the official town Christmas Tree.

Free "Postcards to Santa" available from the Chamber Welcome Center, located on the north side of the square and can be placed in Santa's Mailbox in front of Chamber office.
