Mitchell Residents Text "GRISSOM" For Text Alerts

Last updated on Thursday, December 10, 2015

(MITCHELL) - Mitchell residents can now sign up for new text alert system.

To get the text alerts, cell phone users should text "GRISSOM" to 36000.

After sending the text, users will get immediate confirmation asking them to respond with a "Y" if they want to join the program. After sending a "Y" in response, users will immediately receive a confirmation text.

The text message will alert residents to boil orders, water outages, tornado warnings and other special announcements.

The service is being provided by American Marketing & Publishing and will cost the city $995 for a year with an additional $150 added to allow the city to employ the vanity code - GRISSOM - to make the service easier for residents to remember.
