(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell man was sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to molesting a 12-year-old girl.
Lawrence Superior Court Judge Michael Robbins sentenced 26-year-old Brandon Godsey to 24 years in prison, with four years suspended after he pleaded guilty to two counts of child molesting.
He will serve four years on probation with two of those years being supervised. He must participate in a sex offender treatment program and register as a sex offender. A third count of child molesting, also a Class A felony, was dismissed in keeping with the plea agreement.
According to a probable cause affidavit, in 2013 the girl was taken to the hospital after suffering a possible seizure. That is when she tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease. She was transferred to Riley Hospital for Children, where she tested positive another STD.
The girl at first "denied having sex with anyone and could not explain how she would have gotten the STDs but finally admitted during a theraphy session that Godsey had sex with her and many occasions. According to court records Godsey also tested positive for the STDs.
