(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after he allegedly shoved a woman to the ground and choked her.

According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, officers were called to a Wednesday night home in the 70 block of Granny Road.

"The victim alleged her ex-husband shoved her to the ground two times, choked her after an argument over the family's living conditions," Shoults says.

The victim and Ky Grubb had divorced but were living in the same home.

"The victim claims the battery took place in front of at least one of the children who is under the age of 14," Shoults says.

Police say the woman had an injury bruises and red marks on her left wrist. She also had noticeable red marks on both side of her neck and her left lower back.

Grubb was arrested on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor and strangulation.

Shoults says officers then followed protocol and notified the Department of Child Service and put the woman in contact with Hoosier Hills PACT for assistance.
