(UNDATED) - Hoosier Uplands will once again be offering a scholarship to a graduating high school senior from each high school in the five counties they serve - Crawford, Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington.

According to Ginger Knight, director of Administrative Services/Hoosier Uplands Scholarship Program, the scholarships were initiated in 1993 by the Hoosier Upland Board of Directors to promote post-secondary education in the social services, health and education fields. 2016 will be the 24th year for the scholarships. As of the Fall of 2015, Hoosier Uplands has presented 187 students with $224,650 in scholarship funds.

The $1,300 scholarship will be awarded to a student applicant from each school who wants to pursue a career in the social services, health or education field and who exhibits a financial need.

The selection will be made by each school's scholarship committee and/or school foundation.

Seniors should inquire about the application process through their high school counselor and/or community school foundation - not Hoosier Uplands.

All applicant must be returned to the high school counselor who oversees the scholarship program and/or community school foundation by the deadline given by each high school.
