(BEDFORD) - Five people were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Ind. 37 and 16th Street.

The accident was reported just after 8 p.m.

According to a Bedford Police report, when police arrived they found a 2000 Buick Century facing east on 16th Street at the entrance of Ind. 37. The second vehicle, a 2012 Ford Fusion was over the embankment, north of the intersection.

According to police, 24-year-old Kindra Ross of Bedford was traveling south on Ind. 37 and in the turn lane to turn east on 16th Street. She told police she thought she had the green arrow light to make the turn, but at the time of the crash was second guessing herself.

She told police as she made the turn her Buick collided with the Fusion driven by 20-year-old Stephen Drake of Orleans.

According to police Drake was traveling north on Ind. 37.

Drake told police Ross turned directly in front of him and he could not avoid the collision.

Ross and her three passengers, 1-year-old Savannah Cox, 2-year-old Madilynn Cox and her infant Colton Cox all complained of pain and were checked by medical staff at the scene.

Drake also complained of pain and was treated at the scene.

Witnesses at the scene confirmed that the turn light was red when Ross entered the intersection.

Ross was cited for disregarding a red light, having expired license plates and for having no insurance.
