Last updated on Tuesday, December 1, 2015

(BLOOMFIELD) - In an effort to continue supporting local youth involved in the court system, Greene County Voices for Kids will be hosting the annual open house, silent auction and gift basket contest Friday, December 4.

The events are combined in the Greene County Courthouse's magistrate courtroom on the first floor from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m.

Greene County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Director Samantha Flath explained the Voices for Kids program is the "fundraising arm" of the CASA program.

"All profits (from the event) will go to the children in Greene County who have been abused or neglected and involved in the Greene County Juvenile Courts as CHINs (Children in Need of Services)," Flath explained.

Voices for Kids helps to provide CHINs with necessities and some extras which are not provided by the Department of Child Services, parents or the foster parents, such as baseball camp tickets, prom dresses and other items.

The morning will start off with local entertainment from Bloomfield band Joyful Noise, choral group cardinal song, Center Stage and Bloomfield second graders performing between 9 and 10 a.m.

The public is encouraged to visit the courthouse, every floor has been decorated with several trees. The decorations both inside and outside of the courthouse had been done by the Juvenile Probation Department.
