(UNDATED) - Bedford North Lawrence basketball star Damon Bailey is a 2016 induction to the Indiana Basketball Hall Of Fame.

He will be honored on March 23, 2016.

Bailey is the ninth player to be inducted into the Hall in their first year of eligibility and joins basketball greats Steve Alford, Kent Benson, Larry Bird, Dave Colescott, Kyle Macy, George McGinnis, Rick Mount and Oscar Robertson.

Bailey's basketball record is impressive:

He remains the all-time leading scorer in Indiana high school basketball history 26 years after he graduated from BNL with 3,134 points. The 1990 Indiana Mr. Basketball led the Stars to three state finals appearances, including the 1990 state championship in which BNL won in front of 41,046 spectators.

Bailey was a two-time Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year, a 1990 McDonald's All-American, the consensus 1990 High School National Player of the Year and named by USA Today as the High School Player of the Decade.

As a senior at Indiana University, Bailey was a 1994 All-American and graduated having won more games in an IU jersey than any other player (108), including a school-record 11 NCAA Tournament wins. He is tied for second in games played (132), the all-time leader in three-point field goals made (166), fifth in three-point percentage (.437), tied for second in assists (474), and fifth in career scoring (1,741).

After college, Bailey was 1994 second-round draft pick of the Indiana Pacers, played with the CBA's Fort Wayne Fury and professionally in France.

After playing he then took the floor as coach.

Bailey was the head boys basketball coach at BNL from 2005-2007 before becoming an assistant coach and eventually head coach of the BNL girls program, leading the Lady Stars to a Class 4A state championship in 2014.

Bailey is currently in his second season as an assistant coach with the Butler University women's basketball program.
