Buddha Man, Mountain Cur Win World Coon Hunting Title Championship

Last updated on Wednesday, December 30, 2015

(BUDDHA) - A Buddha man says he couldn’t have trained a champion mountain cur hunting dog without the help of friends.

Raccoon hunter 52-year-old Darren Allgood says a half-dozen people ranging from grade-school kids to retired men helped him train T.R. Big Daddy Rip to win the Original Mountain Cur Breeders Association's championship in Jamestown, Tennessee, earlier this month.

He says the dog was in the woods six nights a week training for the competition. Allgood says he bought the dog with the goal of winning the world coon hunting title championship, calling it a bucket list type of thing.

Allgood had two other dogs in the competition, but neither made it out of the first eliminations round.
