(BLOOMINGTON) - A bobcat kitten hit by a car last month as she crossed a Bloomington road with her mother and a sibling is on the mend following surgery at the University of Illinois.
Surgeons at the university's College of Veterinary Medicine in Urbana, Illinois, repaired the bobcat's fractured pelvis during a three-hour surgery last week.
The native wildcat was struck November 24 along a road near Bloomington and turned over to the care of WildCare Inc., a local wildlife rehabilitation center.
WildCare Inc. board Vice President Amanda Wrigley says the female cat is doing well following her surgery.
University wildlife clinic medical director Julia Whittington says there's a good chance the kitten can be reunited with her mother and sister once she recovers.
