(ORANGE CO) - Orange County REMC would like to warn the public of a telephone fraud that is targeting members.

Several members have received calls stating they had not paid their electric bill and were subject to disconnection. Members were then asked to make a payment immediately. Please be advised that this is a scam.

Orange County REMC's automated notification system calls members concerning prior balances, prepay accounts, planned outages and other possible situations where members need to be notified within a short period of time. Members are asked to verify they are the account holder and then they may proceed to make a payment if desired.
